Before the search police come after me- I searched this site and the web first! My grocery store sells R/O water- $1.95 for 5 gal- and it's alot closer than my LFS. Okay to use? It is NOT deionized, at least it doesn't say it is. (I don't want to start a water debate, but it's got to be better than my well water!)

i get mine from the Pick N' Save 2 min. away from me, ive been using it for ~3 years or so, and i get it for the exact same price :) and have never had a problem, they do use carbon, UV and some other ways to filter the water, i think they take really good care of the machines and filters.

I used to use mine from my local pharmacy and it was way better than well or tap water! You should be fine!

I would agree with that. Grocery stores (that are large corporations) have a lot of quality control in place compared to the small businesses. I would trust it. And I will look into it as well.

I live on a well and did the bottled water thing for a while. To be honest you are going to spend alot more money in the long run on buying water. Not to mention it's a PITA. When I bought my RO unit, I noticed a significant change in my system. It'll do but, overall who knows and an RO unit has been a blessing.

The only thing I'd be worried about is if the proper maintenance is being performed on the RO unit. If not you could actually be putting more nitrates and Phosphates into your tank than tap water

Did you change it already? It looks fine to me or maybe I just don't see what they are seeing!

OK, I think it comes down to trust. Do you trust that it is i9nfact RO/DI water, RO or DI or watever.

Simple way to tell. Pick up your 5 gallon jug, take it home, and mix with 2.5 cups of you favorite salt, airate and test. What are your results?

Obviously buying an RO/DI unit will help in the long run, but for now you should be on a better path that well water. Test it out and lets see what the results are.
