When i started this project my wife had two rules no debt and no would of, could of, or should of later on. So i spent better than a year saving and made me a budget and when i hit it i started going for it. I tried to cover everything except livestock. Two of my items were plumbing and misc. I figured a 100 for plumbing and 50 for misc. Well i blew these out of the water, plumbing slightly over double and misc almost triple so far. I bought a 40 breeder for a sump i didn't account for and a few of my products had price increase since my plan began. The item i have last on my want list is a calcium reactor. So in the last 2 weeks i down graded my reactor to a litermeter to a dosing pump and now it looks like i might have to stay with my current way of dosing 2 part with a shot glass. I guess the moral to my story it really is the little things that kill.

For circulation I'll be using a closed loop with a dart hooked to two 3/4 sea swirls and a 1 inch sea swirl. I went this route mainly because I've had a brand new dart sitting around for 3 or 4 years and i have the 2 smaller sea swirls.
After spending a hour or two drawing out the system i went to flexpvc.com and spent an hour or two finding all the parts. Yesterday i spent 6 hours working on plumbing another 2 today and still am not finished. It's amazing how hard 15 or 20 ft plumbing is to install. Vortech's are looking better by the minute.

Just got my skimmer, went with a reef dynamics ins180. They seem to have lost some of thier appeal in a time of cones and bubble plates but i've been using a smaller one for years and it seems to get the job done. Plus made in the USA. I built a stand out of pvc and egg crate so it will sit in 7 inches of water.

Looking good man. How are you going to be running you closed loop? Can you draw a crude paint drawing maybe on a previous tank picture?

Thanks everyone. I will get pic of cl soon.
Picking a controler was one of my harder decisions to make. I've grown tired of endless timers, unplugging this and that to feed fish, and my zilla thats seems to have a mind of it's own. I really liked everything about the reef angel but not having much in the way of computer skills i really worried about programming it. If i knew somebody that could come to my house and walk me through programming i would have went this route. So i went with a rke. For all the research i did what suprised me most when i opened the box was that each pc4 needs to be plugged in. I only have 1 outlet nearby so it looks like i have to take these high end power strips and plug them into a cheap power strip.
