Would they cover a 36"x 16"x21" aquarium?

I would think you need two. Their LEDs are evry clusters and unless you mount it very high it woudlnt cover the tank

 

I'm in the same dilemma, I own an RSM 250 and the dimensions are similar to yours... I read a post of a guy who bought Radion Gen 3 Pro with wide angle lens and it covers everything.

 

Never read up on the wide lenses yet but it is a possibility. I'm going to use my Gen3 over my 36x18x12 when I get it in.

I can't see needing two over a tank that small, unless you had super high light corals packed from edge to edge. The space that your corals live in is smaller than the tank size. Mixed reef I would go with one.

Here is a picture with wide angle lens, the reason RSM owners need the wide angle lens is because we custom/retrofit the radions to fit in the RSM canopy. its about 6 to 8 '' high above water level
