Have had my 120g running for a little over a year and have run it with Metal Halide lighting using Radium HRI-T Blue bulbs. Not that I am going to change now, but I was curious what the benefit of these bulbs and lighting set up is, plus my lfs says they should be replaced every 6 months, checking to make sure this is accurate. My lfs set up my whole system and helped me with the purchases for the tank and I have gone there for two years, and I do feel he is very honest and has taken care of me and knowledgeable.

Radiums have excellent Par, great color, and long life. Radiums should last you 12 months or more.

Bulb life is typically in hours, not months. It all depends on how long your light cycle is each day. Also color and par that you get out of that bulb really depends on what type of ballast you are running them on. The sunlight supply bluewave ballasts are probably going to give you the best output for a radium.
