My test this morning was reading a little low ...7.8-8 , anyway to bring it up ? I heard something about using arm n hammer or baking soda? Any ideas ? Ohhh and I've got a cichlid tank as well as my SW and was wondering if the ph up I have for freshwater can be used in my SW tank?

Is baking soda a buffer and pH adjuster? - ReefAquariumGuide

Here is a link regarding using house hold baking soda.

No I would not use any fresh water from another system if that is what you had in mind.

If you are measuring your pH in the am, you should try testing in the afternoon when pH is likely to be higher, and test the same time each day.

Your pH value is not bad at all. Routine water changes, or use of Parts A B will bring up your pH as well. There are any number of things that will raise pH, from increasing surface agitation to running an airline outside, but the simplest is water changes or part A B IMO.

Sorry, I do not know if it would bring up the pH, it should work on the basic principals of acids and bases, but without having first hand knowledge I would not. I am sure others with FW tanks will be able to tell you.

MY pH was a bit low and the issue was sufficient aeriation. I tied a air pump to my controller to turn on when ever the pH went below 8.1. Gradually, the pH came up.
