Raiseing alk with soda,(bake or not?)

    correcto mundo!!! if you bake the baking soda (bicarb of soda) it will raise your pH...correct me if i'm wrong

    with a ph of 8.2 I wouldn't bake it, I would just use it right out of the box mix some up and add it during the day.

    For me I bake it if I plan to dose early morning, I don't bake it if I plan to dose late night before lights out.

    Just get a calcium reactor and your calcium and alk will be fine :)

    MUCH too expensive to handle ten tanks on seven systems though!

    So let me see if I understand this "baking" the baking soda correctly. If I bake it, that will "enhance" the ph value and if I dont bake it, it stays the same(so to speak)? Luna

    luna, from what i understand if you bake it, it will raise ph, if you dont it will actually lower the ph.

    if you look at the calculator here on 3reef for alk there are 2 options under backing soda, the unbaked lowers ph, and the baked raises ph.but both raise alk.
    I think luna is pulling our leg.He knows that...;D
