They have a method for calculating the dosage on the jug itself, but it requires paper, pencil, calculator and patience. It is not exactly user friendly. There is a plug and play calculator here on the 3reef site for such things also. It is under calculators in the main menu. I was just about to use it to calculate my increase in Ca using Reef Kalkwasser.

Hi stingray, I use Tech M by Kent. On their bottle it reads to add 1 ml per gallon. That will raise mag 18 ppm per day until you get where you want to go, you then experiment with dosing schedules until you can keep it stable at the desired reading. Remember, you really should know your actual water volume of you tank and sump (if applicable) giving way to displacement in each.

It's just a mixture of Magnesium Sulphide and Magnesium Chloride. It's a fine product to use.

When people only use Epsom Salts (Magnesium Sulphates) they can get their Sulphides and Chlorides out of whack. That's why this is a good product....because you're getting Chlorides too.

I use epsom salt, but once my mag was ~1450 ppm I haven't had to add much at all...only to compensate for the dilution in Mag from water changes. I also figure the calcuim chloride I use to dose Ca helps keep the chloride/suflide balanced.

you say you have to compensate due to dilution of water changes, can you not add this to the water change water?

yes, you can add it to waterchange water too AFTER it was first dissolved in freshwater.

It is a good product. I use the Reef products pretty much across the board. When I do a water change, the only thing I measure out and adjust is the temp and the SG. I let a few hours go by, test the tank water and do the adjusting from there. First I adjust dKH, then Ca and Mg.
