My Specific Gravity went from a constant 1.024 to 1.022 - 023. I would like to gradually raise it to around 1.025 - 026. What are some safe ways to raise my SG and what are the reasons SG lowers? I run a 90 gal. reef with approx. 70lbs. of LR, and refugium/sump. I use a ATO system (JBL) and top off with RO/DI water. I use a refractometer to measure my SG approximately every 2 days. My params are:

    PH - 8.2
    Temp- constant 77-78
    Alk - 4 meg/L
    Cal - 410 ppm
    PO4 - 0.00
    Mg - 1363
    NH3-4 - 0.001
    NO2 - 0.007
    NO3 - 0.6

    Thanks 3Reefers

Rises in SG aren't so much a problem for things to adapt to as drops. You can add a gallon of hypersalinated water to the sump and drip it over the course of an hour or so.

SG could lower because of salt creep and an ATO over time, if you have significant amounts of salt creep.

mix some saltwater to top off with instead of using the ato (disable it).

+1 to this. I let mine let mine evap to the sg I want with the ato unplugged and then refill with mixed water to right level in my sump. Also make sure your refractometer is calibrated.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Blackraven1425, where would I get hypersalinated water from? Do I buy from someplace or do I make it?
