No worries...its why we are ALL here...Although "L" Cree's are newest, most DIY builds use "E or G" due to performance, history and cost...bonus being you can run more per driver...In your BioCube, you can be safe with either choice...just get the best bang for your buck you can...;) Dont skip the fan...;)

Yeah, We will be going with the Dimmable kit (includes fan and heatsink) for her 10g tank.

Fans are not required. This really depends on heat sink size and fixture design. I run my 36 rapid kit with no fans and temps are fine. I don't have to deal with the added wiring and noise either. And definitely go dimmable. The difference between the p and d drivers is what type of signal they take on the dimming input. The "p" drivers take a pwm signal from a reef controller or boostled typhoon, etc. The "d" drivers take an analog 10v signal from a wall wort and potentiometer for manual dimming.

How are you planning on securing it above the tank? It's not clear to me how one might do this without hanging it from the ceiling (which is not an option for me).

I seem to have missed your post, insanespain. Thanks for the feedback.

Minumum Phase, welcome to 3reef. Most people hang their lights from the ceiling in this case, but I think the plan here will be to use electrical conduit, which is made of metal and can be easily bent using a tool you can get from the electrical dept. at Lowe's or Home Depot. I think it's called a pipe bender? But don't quote me on that.

The conduit wail be drilled in several spots so it can be attached (on one end) to the rear of the stand/cabinet.

I'm installing the 24 kit in my biocube, I emailed the owner of rapid and he mentioned I should run a fan....
