    Hello all,

I am debating switching over to LED lighting on my 75g tank. I was wondering what everyone would think the best DIY kit would be to use for my tank from RapidLED. Or if anyone has any other recommedations to try out i am definetly open to all opinions. I currently have mostly LPS and zoas, with few SPS.

    Thanks!

I would suggest the 48 Dimmable Kit. Get a mix of Royal Blue, and Blue (2:1), and a few Neutral White LEDs for some red spectrum. I also suggest finding some UV LEDs (Edison, Bridgelux, etc...CREE does not produce a UV diode) for added color.

    probably 6-7 par30s
    or 5-6 par38s
yes you can mount bulb sockets to the top of the canopy. thats the beauty of the par bulbs, there easy to install and modify if need be.

A 3w led is a 3w led. There are 5 in a PAR30. So, if you want the same output as 48 LEDs, then 48/5 is 9.6 spotlights... Maybe a bit more actually as the spotlights are only run at 2w, not 3. However, you can point the spotlights at areas with more corals, so, that does buy some efficiency as you are not wasting as much light on area that don't have anything growing.

60 degree optics should be okay for either the led array or the spotlights.
