Has anyone gotten any sort of rash or ichy bumps like bug bites on their arms/hands when they are in the water? I haven't before, but i have had my arms in the tank a lot lately, and now have some itchy bumps on my hand and arms. Just wondering if others have experienced this before.

I have been lucky i guess , don't seem to be affected by the water no matter how often my hands are in the tank.

When I did my aquascaping (without gloves) my hands/arms got pretty tore up from handling all of the jagged pieces of rock. I got a slight rash on the undersides of my arms (softer skin), and my hands stung like crazy.

I have been considering getting some of those arm length reef gloves, but feel like I would loose dexterity with them.

The manager at our local pet store had a similar problem with braking out with a rash when she put her hands in the saltwater tanks.

I offten have a problem of my skin drying up and cracking when I have been working in my tank to much. So I try to keep my hands out of my tanks as much as possible. Better for my animals and me. :)

I break out in a rash whenever I stick my hands or arms in the tank. Normally it is just a little red with bumps, but there have been times that I get a really bad rash, esp on the inside of my elbows and on my wrists. It depends on how long I have been in the tank. I do have psoriasis and I think not only am I tad bit allergic to the salt, but if I am doing a lot of work in the tank that it flares it up.

My LFS person said that this is not uncommon, and that he could order me in some different salt that I could use. (Of course more money...) but I figure it is not worth it. I have those long arm aqua gloves, but I HATE to use them, so normally I just dive in without anything.
