    Hi all

I recently purchased a Bubble Magus doser
I intend to dose Sea Chems advantage Calcium with one and Reef Builder with the other

I have been manual dosing for a couple of months at the following rates

    Reef Builder (alkalinity)
1/2 teaspoon in 500ml RODI - dripped via airline syphon over a 4 or 5 hour period - I have been doing this every day for a month or so - my DKH (salifert kit) is always between 8.6 and 9.3

    Advantage calc
1 teaspoon in 500ml RODI - dosing every other day - Calc always between 440 and 470

    Question
I have 2.5 litre cannister so could in effect put 2.5 teaspoons of buffer in 2500 mls of water - dose 500 mil per night and the solution last 5 days

or could I add 5 teaspoons of buffer and dose 250ml per night and it last 10 days

or could I add 10 teaspoons and dose 125ml per night and it last 20 days

I know that as long as no single dose exceeds 0.7 DKH I am OK
I am just not sure at what rate the daily dose can be added in terms of time taken to dose that amount

apologies for the lenght of this post
and also for the fact its pretty uninteresting LOL

If I understand right, this option is effectively what you have been doing and you know it works.

I would do two things. 1. go with that option. 2. get a bigger canister. Any clean jug will work.

thats what Im going with Peredhil - I have 2.5 litre cannisters so using same ratio I do now it would last 5 days
but it doesnt seem as automatic as it could be - making that much every 5 days
so if I could double the strenght and half the dose - it lasts 10 days

All options are doable they add the same dose just in a different solution.

    SeaChem dose calculator

Steve - Don't know if you are using it, but SeaChem has a nice program for dose calculating. It's located here:

    thanks 2 in 10
as the total being added equates to 0.25 DKH
I believed I could dose that in 100ml water broken up into 3 doses through the night - rather than a weaker solution dosed in 1 amount of 500ml

making solutions every 20 days appeals to me as it justifies the move from manual dosing much better than making solutions every 5 days would.
