My wife's family has a large rock quarry that is loaded with Calcium Carbonate. Tons of crushed material just piled up. I know it is useful in farming but is there any use for this in an aquarium?

do you know how pure it is?

im pretty sure that it will have some phosphates and other terrestrial elements (that could be bad?) locked in the carbonate structure...

get some and put it in a bucket with rodi water to soak and cover it with saran wrap. Test the water after a good week for phosphates, copper, and iron. How deep of a quarry is it and where is it located? I am a geologist and I do tests on quarry pre-drilling samples so I know that if they have one they will be able to produce a test of their product as it is required before any project. Actually if you can PM me the coordinates I can probably find the files as we have access to a huge database. let me know if I can help.

Its a more compact form of CaCO3, Marble.. Would be cool, but there is no use.
