So when I was gettin' groceries yesterday, I decided to grab a cpl of fresh, uncooked shrimp for the tank. I cut one up last night and tossed it in. The fish went crazy for it (except our tiny maroon). I def didn't cut it small enough because all the larger chunks, the Clarkii grabbed and tossed into the nem...pretty entertaining. My question is, should I remove the scraps that didn't get eaten or leave them in there for some of the cuc (and maybe the fish will eat it too eventually)? Also, our clnr shrimp molted last night...get that exo out or leave it? Thx again!!!

leave the exo skeleton indefinitely, someone will eventually eat it. They are supposed to eat part of it to gain back some strength and nutrients.

I would also leave the shrimp bits as long as you have a decent sized clean up crew. Only feed what you think will be eaten.

When feeding like this I once read to be sure to use only wild caught shrimp not farmed. The fellow behind the seafood counter told me that most shrimp you see in the case are farmed shrimp. I believe the article I read said that farmed shrimp are done so in freshwater and wild caught are from the ocean. You may want to do more research on this, but I also feed my tank a shrimp that I cut up except I use the large bags of wild caught frozen shrimp. Most of the shrimp is prepared for my family and I to eat then I pull out a half dozen or so to use as tank food. The 6 shrimp I pull out will last for a few weeks if kept frozen.
Dont know how true it is but thats just what I heard.
