I don't have the 160 but have been using the 120 for about one month and like it very much. The timer system works very well, goes from one setting to the next gradually and is easy to use to get a dawn to dusk effect. The moonlight setting(1%blues on)is a little bright causing some corals to remain open but everything seems to be adjusting well.I am using this 20inch one to replace a 250watt sunpod and started with a max. setting of 50%white/60%blues,it is powerful. My tank is a 44gal.corner tank that is 32inches wide and I am using the tank mount legs which put the light about 7inches above the water surface and coverage is good,if hung a little higher it would easily cover a 36inch tank.I'm guessing that the 27inch model would cover a 4ft tank. The light should be powerful enough to be hung that high and be work well.To me,the built in timer system, high quality led's,and good looking design of this light were worth the extra money over one of the less exspensive ebay type lights.Hope this helps,Dave

I can't report on the sound of the cooling fan as it is thermostat controlled and the unit hasn't become warm enough for it to come on yet. This thing is cool and silent,I love that!! I sure don't miss the sound of the old sunpod's cooling fan!

Wow, I am sold, I am hoping to pop it onto my marineland 93 cube. I already bought 2 120 watt led Chinese lights that I am just not happy with, so this time I am doing some more work.
Thank you for your time and information

Just noticed your tank is a 93cube,so that's 30x30x24.The 160watt razor should handle the 24 inch depth with no problem, but with the linear arrangement of the led pods you may need to hang it to fully cover the 30x30 area. This will probably give you some spill over into the room but your tank would be well lit.

One other solution other than hanging would be to make an extension to the tank mount legs, this could easily be done with a coulple of pieces of wood screwed to the plastic leg bases. It would be good to use good quality wood and stainless steel screws, both available at any lowes or home depot. They would probably even cut the wood to size for you.The fixture itself is very light and would only need to be raised about 5inches to give good coverage. The wood extensions could be made the length of the leg or the length of the tank and would also block residual light from spilling into the room.If painted black to match the fixture I think it would look very clean.
