I got some bad advise from my LFS about how to set up my mini reef. They told me to put the sand in first then place the live rock. Well. 8 months later my pistol shrimp has proved to be quite the archeologist and the rock is now sinking in on itself. I will need to re-do the tank and sink the rock to the bottom. I afraid this will start a new cycle in the tank. Any advise?
    Thanks!

how much LR, how much sand, how long has tank been up and running? If you move LR around carefully and slowly, and the SB is disturbed a little bit, IMO you should be okay. I did that in my 75, and did a 25% WC after and it went well, just stressful to me, and I moved things slowly.

Agreed. I'm also planning on changing up my aqua scape pretty soon also. If anything, you can keep all your livestock in those 50g tubs. Just add a heater (make sure to turn down the dial since there is less water) and a powerhead. I've done this numerous of time with minimal to no loss. Just remember patience is the key.
