cool thanks for the tip, i'm hoping to get my aquascape done tonight so that i'm at least kind of happy with it, as i quickly learn it's to tall and not enough swimming room, which is so frustrating

You live 500 miles from your LFS. I don't think you can call it a LFS. You are very dedicated. I love my tank but I don't think I would've started if I had to drive 1000 miles to get to and from my LFS. k+ for the dedication.

How does their two part work? you mix the calc and alk yourself with powdered chemicals, and use dosing pumps to add to your tank? Does this replace top up water? How often do you need to mix the chems? fill the containers? test your water?

well its 500 miles but I never make a trip just for live stock lol. But I live in thompson, 500 Miles to the north of the closes Reef Shop.

I head into the city every month or two for other stuff, so grab reef stuff too. Plus online is great for everything but livestock. I can't get any livestock shipped here, no one will do it ... but there are some great suppliers for hardware

Just mix alk powder with ro/di in a gallon container. Mix calc with ro/di in another. I manually add each to the tank each day. It doesn't replace top off water. Each gallon jug lasts about 3-6 months (never really kept track) before having to make more. I test weekly.

Wow you may have the northern-most reef tank in Canada.

    Its a possibility lol.

There is only one other person in town I'm aware of that keeps a reef tank, and its because he wanted to start one as I was building mine. He figured he would never do the right research on his own ... and he works at the mine with me, so he's got money to burn ... and during a 8 month winter, you get a bit bored so was looking for a new hobby.

So he just built along side me in a standard 75. His tank is up and running and still doing pretty good, a lot less livestock ... but he did it on a whim, where as its a passion of mine.

What size is your tank, and how much of this mix do you need to add each day?

This is something I'm seriously considering ... as SPS has appealed to me more than anything else, except for my zoa weakness lol.
