What exactly is a reactor? I have heard people around here talking about Phosphate and Cal/Alk reactors, but I'm kinda lost.

Also, are these kinds of things only used in larger tanks? I've got a 29 Gal, so should I even be wondering about reactors? Most of what I read says that most of my essential elements will be replaced with just water changes.

Fill me in, if you would!

A reactor is something that hold a type of meida (Carbon, Phosphate Remover, or Calcium Media and others). A Carbon or Phophate reactor may be somethig you will need, but a Calcium Reactor is not required. If you do regular water changes and do not have large colonies of LPS or SPS you sould be fine. Do a search on Reactors should pull some good information form this site and the web.

I only know one guy with a calcium reactor on a sub 75g tank. But then again this guy has an apex controller as well.
