I just switched from a calcium reactor to 2 part dosing. My tank is a mixed with more sps few lps and zoas. How do I figure out how much I need to dose and what should alk and cal read all day since my reactor pretty much kept alk at 10dhk all the time and my cal way high over 500ppm? I used the calculator on BRS and it said for a 180g more sps .1ml per gal which I came up with 54ml. I just tested everything and my alk is at 7dhk and cal is right at 500 so its falling. Should I keep dosing both and how much of each or stop with cal let it fall into the 420s and just does alk and at a higher dose but how do I know its staying at say 10dhk all day? I plan on adding a dosing pump once I figure how much each day I need.

    Thanks in advance

Your tank wil absorb a certain amount.Since everyones system is different you will need to do the calculations and testing and figure out how much of each is required to keep those values.Your target should be around9-10 Alk. Calcium between 400-450 and Mag. 1200-1350.Magnesium is the key to keeping the other 2 in solution so I would test that before dosing the other two.If your Alk. is low dose it by using the BRS calculator but don't increase/decrease more then 1 point a day and add it very slowly to a high flow area.If you create a snowglobe you have gone too quickly and it has precipitated.I would not dose any calcium for now.The easiest way to tell what your tank is consuming is by testing everyday at the same time for a few days and keep the results in a journal. You will then get an idea of what your system is using.Of course all that changes to some degree over time as your system/animals mature so weekly testing is still advisable.

Ok so testing everyday before or after I add. The tanks is about 3 yrs old. Is it ok to dose in to the area of the sump where the overflow drops and the skimmer is I have a ev240 skimmer and it pushes alot of flow out

Test before you dose or at least a few hours after dosing to be safe.
You will need a very high flow area and add the Alk. slowly.

So if my alk is 7 and 24 hours later 6 so I burn up 1dhk in 24hrs do I just look up on the brs calculator alk current and desired and thats my daily does for alk? Or does that just get me to that level and I still need to figure out how much extra thru the day?
