hi guys, a question - a reactor seems to be just a plasticc tube with an input and an output - why are they so expensive? - do you reckon ones on ebay for a few pounds will do the same job and if not why?.

    many thanks

Need to be more specific when you say "reactor". What kind of reactor are you talking about? Are to refering to something like this........

Or a Cal. reactor? The reactor that I posted a pic is easy to make, if thats something you need. You can make just about everything in this hobby.

You'll need to search it through 3reef's eng. search. There was one guy that did one DIY with pics, I just dont remember who it was. Search DIY Cal reactors. Luna

hi - just a normal reactor - not a calc one - i'll ideally have 2 one for phosphate reduction and one for carbon - so is it just a case of looking how to build, or would i be better off spending £60+ getting the from the shops.

    Many thanks matt

    +1
that is the price i would expect for just acrylic body.
the needle valve and co2 tank, are what cost the most, there was one site i found that you could get those for around a 100 dollars

also i would expect to pay alot more for a ph probe and auto shut off valve if you add that.
