Crazy question here. Just bought my first Refractometer and it had no direction other than how to do proper calibration.
Question how do I read it for specific gravity?
It shows lines and the goes 5,10,15 etc. What should or what tells me where I need to be for a reef tank?

    thanks!

Does your refractometer not have a column to measure specific gravity?

No it only has the salinity numbers, and I don't even think that scale looks the same. I need to look when I get home.

Well, if it only shows specific gravity, hit 1.026. If the scale only show salinity, go for 35 PPT. As you can see on the graphic Amcarrig shows above, you can see that 1.026 SG is the same as 35 PPT

Mine is nothing like that. It has measurements 0 to 5,10,15,20,25.

Right now my tank reads at 3.2 (very bottom) When I use my old hydrometer it is at 1.25.... Know idea how to read this thing....

Looks like your refractometer is actually used to measure Brix. This type of refractometer is used by winemakers. Where did you get it?
