I would rather be ready and have nothing happen than the other way around. Glad you didn't go through it.

California is pretty much the exception to this because of their major issues with power during the summer, if it was bigger than a local issue (like the block PC lives on). Some other hot states might deal with it too. All thanks to air conditioning.

thanks everyone, deffiently glad it didnt happen, but in a way i was kind of lookimg forward to it because we almost never have power outages, not even accidental power outagesm which us why i never had anything for the tank to begin with, But now at least i am prepared for the rare occasion that it does happen

yup we do, we get them every now at them, we get a weeks notice on the time and date and a phone call the night before, and like blackraven stated its on certain blocks like mine, they will turn off a couple of streets power but the rest of the track will have power.

Just glad that these dont happen very often and we get a notice :)

learn something every day......of course if you turned off the power for that long in SA in June, you better have a lot of ambulances ready.

I'm glad that the outage didn't actually happen for you. It's still always better safe than sorry. I should definitely get myself prepared because the Gov't has been doing lots of upgrades in my area recently. And here, they don't really do much of a good job notifying you of a power outage prior to it actually happening. It's all impromptu in my neck of the woods.
But IME, last 18-24 hr power outage we had in the LFS where I work, All we needed was a back up pump with two outlets for a decently stocked 400g. Everything made it through the outage fine.
It's understood that O2 would deplete a lot faster in a smaller glass box but I wouldn't be too worried especially if overheating isn't much of an issue. My tanks once ran at 86F for hours without any ill effect. Over chilling would definitely be more detrimental.;)
