it is a good deal, as long as, it was built as an aquarium and not a reptile tank. You can look at the lip on the top an usually tell. People sometimes don't know what they have, or they think because it will hold a little bit of water, that it can be used as an aquarium. A reptile tank will not be able to hold the pressure that the tank will put it through and it will bust.

If it has a screen top that interlocks with the top= reptile tank
If it has a lip on the inside of the rim, to hold a aqaurium hood= Aqaurium

Most times they have a bigger opening in back so if you plan ahead you can the stuff under there brfore you add any water. People also end up cutting up/out sumps with a sawzall for this reason. Maybe you could put the back as the front and then add doors and a new skin. You would end up with all the structural integrity.
Also I would be cautious of reptile set ups that someone says are water tight. Even if they honestly think they are, things could have changed since it last held water. You probably already know that though.

I'd ask the seller to fill it up with freshwater and then take a drive over there and verify that it is not leaking. As far as the stand goes, you should be ok putting in some bigger doors even if you have to add a couple extra vertical 2X4 supports. You could always build a new stand all together too. JM2C

IMO it would be crazy to get anything other than the one steve just posted between the three. That small amount of extra money will be spent in a matter of seconds to get gear that will already come with that tank. You could also turn around and sell the wet dry and PC fixture for some extra cash towards the gear you actually want. if its "reef ready" there will more than likely be lots of extras that wont come with the other tanks.. aaand i think that stand, trim, and canopy would look really nice sanded and re-stained. just my 2 cents.....

Great deal, and usually there's a reason for this great deal. Always use caution when buying someones tank that is up and running. You may be buying their problems as well. Not to say that I wouldn't go for it. Everything may be fine in it. You don't need to pressure wash it. Just mix you two buckets with saltwater the same salinity, one to wash and one to rinse. Put one or two pieces of rock in one and scrub the rock in the water. Then rinse it off in the other saltwater bucket, then put it back in the tank. Make sure you test the water when you buy the tank and check to make sure everything is healthy. No need to restart the tank from scratch if you don't have to. Good luck and keep us posted.

You can just transfer everything over including your water. I assume you can make up 26 gallons of saltwater and slowly add 5 gallons at a time. That should be fun. I'm not saying that's how to do it, just an assumption.

So I continued looking, but none of them worked out. Either sold, or not worth it.

I figured, if I build myself a stand, then I'll use the money I save to buy a new tank with an overflow in place. Am I really going to save money? Hardly, but I did build the stand today, so check out my build thread!

It still needs some work, but it's getting there. I need to pick up a tank so I can test it on a level surface before putting it inside. I don't need 75 gallons of salt water on my carpet.

I'll keep up with posting pics on the thread.
