I would just get your ro water and your own salt mix. $1.27 is to much to spend imo. My LFSsells saltwater for $.55 a gall and I still just buy my own. I would reccmend a bag od Reef Crystals or Instant Ocean and some ro water. Whats 20 miles out mean?

I fail to see the actual benefit of ocean water over high quality salt mix myself. Too many opportunities for impurities to boot – just the boat itself leaks oil into the ocean.

I too will say its too expensive to be worth while. Tho, if you give it a whirl over a few months I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on tank conditions before and after.

Although I like Natural Sea Water, once it goes past $.75/gallon, I see other options as far better options. I have been using D-D and Red Sea Pro for the past couple years and really like it. Tropic Marine is always a great salt and Instant Ocean is time and battle tested. It's also priced very well.

I was wondering the same thing too. There are times when I'm 20 miles out fishing and the water is blue (not that green stuff by the shore) and normally it's full of nutrients. How beneficial or harmful they are I don't know.

Here's a picture of the water.

i get ocean water off a guy on craigslist, for 50 cents a gallon its pretty much cheaper than salt mix and it seems to help keep my carnation tree healthy whereas when i had it in my other tank which i had salt mix in she didnt do good at all

WOW! that's a lot. I guess since Navada is landlocked. Ocean water here in florida is 30 cents a gallon. I suggest "fake" water. You never know what "extra" you're getting in the ocean water. Usaually phosphates.
