I changed it out because i was using straight up gravel for my substrate because when i started the tank i didn't do my research. I guess gravel is a big no no. But hey good news i woke this morning and the tank is clear enough now that i put my live stock back in. Its still really cloudy but like 60% better than it was yesterday. I also am checking ammonia and nitrate twice a day just to be safe. I reused most my tank water from when i changed it out and added premixed nutri sea water to the tank for top off which was about 40%. I ususally do my own salt mixing but i wanted to be a safe as possible when doing this.

you should be fine. I would run some carbon if you're able because that will help with water clarity. When I changed my sand bed, I actually couldn't catch my goby and he survived the whole ordeal - I took out the old sand bed (left just a little bit) and added in live sand and some crushed coral (I also figured out I hadn't washed the crushed coral well enough) It took about a day or two to clear up but I ran carbon and kept my skimmer running which I'm sure you're doing. Congrats on the new substrate and accomplishing a PITA task :)

if you run your cursor over an acronym you're not sure about, it should come up :) better way of telling you what it means :) A neat little feature on this site.

Can't use the cursor trick on your phone. It means pain in the a**. I'm glad you you made the change dj, you'll be much happier and so will your fish. Keep testing that ammonia and nitrite, nitrates won't hurt the fish like the other 2 will buddy. Don't forget pics when its cleared up ;)
