so i bought a really nice looking sohal tang like 3 weeks ago...he has streamers is about 4.5-5 inches....his coloration was AMAZING coloration that one would only expect to see on a much larger fish....he was a tiny bit thin......he took about 4 days or so to start eating....but the past couple days he has looked really really thin now and is no longer picking at rocks....his teeth are getting really long? i guess one would call they teeth...what ever tangs have...i have never had this problem with any of my other fish, so i am unsure where to go from here.....is it likely that he will die for sure? or is there a way to fatten him up nd get him healthy??? i am now doing 2-3 small feedings instead of the once a day large feeding that i norm. do...just so that he gets more food in him....any ideas suggestions, concerns/??? thanks!

    Try some garlic? :-/

Sorry about the tang. They're beautiful fish, and pricey too. I'm pulling for ya! Good luck. :)

I try to keep nori available whenever the lights are on for my tang to graze on at his leisure. I also rub in a few drops of garlic and selcon, let it dry and rubber band it to a piece of PVC or a rock.

also, what size tank is he in, and what kinds of tankmates?

I would try some seaweed stripes on a clip and see. Ask your LFS if they can give you a strip or two, that way you dont have to buy the whole package. test it see what happens.

+1 if you have the seaweed in the tank, then only the tangs will eat (for the most part). If it's in the food, then the other fish will eat it as well. It's a method of assuring that the tangs get the food without competition.

Don't waste your cash at the LFS. Seaweed paper for sushi is like $3 for 5 big sheets at the grocery store.
