Oh geez I was expecting like a neogonodactylus or something but nope! you go straight for the Peacock haha. That mantis will be capable of killing your puffer and most likely won't back down in a fight. They are known to kill octopuses (octopuses are also known to kill them too though)

That is the bad mo fo of the smasher mantis world haha. Also is your tank glass or acrylic? They can break thin glass so an acrylic tank is recommended.

http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/arthro...costraca/royslist/species.php?name=n_wennerae - is a N. Wennerae like I have and Jwin's princess was. They pose no threat to glass, don't get over 3", little threat to your puffer, and come in a plethora of colors. <$10

http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/arthro...traca/royslist/species.php?name=g_ternatensis This one a Gonodactylus ternatensis gets to be a little larger almost up to 5", but is considered a better looking mantis than the N. Wennerae. Also comes in fewer colors so you don't have to worry about getting a drab color.

http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/arthro...acostraca/royslist/species.php?name=g_smithii G. Smithii like Jwin's Bo. Gets around 3" I believe. Glass safe. Low risk to your puffer. More expensive than the others.

there is a ton of different species on Dr. Roy's list that would be suitable.

well puffer chick i think it is do able if your puffer leaves it alone. i had a peacock that i trained using mollys to be ok with fish. so if you do get one try a fish with it and see how it is. if he becomes a threat you can teach him to be ok with fish. i got mine to the point he was ok with fish even hiding in his den with him. he even made friends with my jewl damsel... never tried anything to expensive with him though. i would not suggest you try a peacock because of the glass tank and the size of it but the ones stated abouve would be awesome !!!! i vote to dooo it worst case you can buy a xl critter carrier and train it with mollys :)
