Try finding a reef club forum in your area. I am not sure if there is one associated with this web site but I know there are some with reefcentral.com Then ask if anyone has any live rock. In an area as large as you are in I would bet you can find a lot of rock pretty easy at a reasonable price. Also watch craigs list for people shutting down aquariums I have bought a lot from there over the years.

I got mine from Liveaquaria.com online and I've been really happy w/ the quality. I elected to buy uncured rock and cure it myself...I don't know if curing it myself was worth the cost savings, but it was definitely an interesting process. Keep in mind that even if you buy "cured" rock online you will likely have some dieoff and will need to do some level of curing.

Also, if you buy online spend the extra money and get overnight shipping...it will help minimize dieoff.

I would suggest buying base rock instead of liverock. When you bring in liverock you do not know what is on it. But base rock is a clean slate. You will build up a bioload on the base rock thus creating liverock at about half of the price.

There are even good threads on here to show you how to make your own base rock. I am not that handy nor have the time. But it looks easy enough.

If I were to do it again, I would use Marco rocks! Marco Rocks The finest aquarium rock available, base rock, live rock, reef rock, marco rock, reef tank saltwater fish, live corals, Marco rocks, Fiji live rock, Tonga Live rock

Then cook them before I put them in my tank and seed it with a small piece of live rock.

Live rock isn't always worth all of the pests and algae you get with it!

LiveAqaria.com (division of DrsFosterSmith.com) was where I last purchased mine about 7 1/2 years ago. Was very happy with the quaility of their Fiji Premium live rock, and I don't have any of the horror stories that most have had. The last time I checked their prices (about a month ago), you could get their Fiji Premium live rock for $3.61 per pound shipped (45 lb box with shipping was $162) two day service, or $3.81 per pound shipped overnight (45lb box with shipping was $172). For the $9-$10 difference in shipping cost of that 45lb box, I'd just go with the overnight shipping.
