I was looking to get a good quality float mag and was wondering if anyone uses the Algae Free Piranha or Hammerhead? My magfloat was ok, but I found it really did a # on the glass towards the sandbed.

    Thanks!

I have the pirhana and the mag float, and IME while the prihana does a bit better of a job at getting my glass clean, they both will scratch the glass if sand or rock bits get caught in it.

I dont bother with the last inch or so of glass, if it really begins to bother me, I just use a long scrubber pad

Got it, thanks for the feedback, I guess you can't stop that scratching if you're not careful. I think I'll grab a Piranha and just be wary when I get towards the sandbed.

I had one of those a long time ago... it sucked! then I had a petco brand on that didnt float if it got detached, and by the time you got it back up it would guarantee getting sand in it... I learned a hard lesson, dont ever buy a cheaper magnet cleaner
