Hello all! I'm looking for another coral for my 44 gal & am having trouble figuring out which one. I've recently switched to an LED light (see sig.) & the Lobophyllia & Metallic Green Trumpet that were directly below it started bleaching. I moved them out of the direct rays & now they're happy again but this leaves me with an empty hole in a low-medium flow area right in the middle of my tank. I have Frogspawn, Duncan Polyp, Anthellia (I know), & Capnella frags, growing well. I know I don't have enough light for SPS (nor do I want anything that difficult). I've looked at the clams, as LA states that some (the Derasa's, I believe) only require moderate light, but I'm not sure if what I have would be enough. Actually, I've looked at almost everything they list, I just can't figure out what to do. Any recommendations? Thanks!

I think a montiporia might be an interesting addition. You can find them fairly cheap, so if it doesn't turn out well, then you haven't lost much. I'd guess if the light is bleaching a trumpet that it would be more than enough for it.

Thanks for the input. Corailline: If the light is bleaching the Trumpet & Lobo, do you think those two will handle it? scadsobees: I love the look of Montipora & our LFS has some. I might give it a whirl... any other ideas, y'all?

Figi Yellow Toad Stools loves a lot of light if you can get one of those.

I was going to suggest some Montipora Digitata, easy sps loves light, but not as light demanding as other sps. Pocillopora might be another good choice. I just stayed away from suggesting any sps, figuring you did not want sps.

If the LED is bleaching LPS I would guess that easy sps like those mentioned above would probably do well, but I have no first hand knowledge of LED.

Actually, I was adamantly against them until you guys pointed out that not all of them are on the "Expert Only" list. LOL Thanks for the info - that kind of opens up a new arena for me.

This is my first experience with LED, too, & I never expected it to be that bright. Live & learn, right?! :)

If its a low flow area, I'd stay away from tight branching sps. Monti caps are a great idea.
