    Hello everyone that reads this.

I am going to be getting two custom pendants built and I'm going to hang them from the top floor (ceiling). They will be built to fit the width and depth of the tank. I have one loaner LED light right now centered on the tank that is up high (15") and only on for 4 hours a day and blues on for 6-7 hours a day split up between morning and night. The light previous was a CFL with the same bulbs in it from the 2 years ago :-[

I will attach a picture of what I have now. I would love to see some pictures of your light skirts or custom ways to block light down into your tank!! :biggrinbo

loaner led This is just with blues on, but I'm sure you guy already knew that ;)

    Thanks,
    Matt

Personally, I hate light spill, so I built a canopy to house my LEDs and then just close the doors.

+1 I also don't like light spill. I built a canopy to house my LEDs. [IMG]

Do most suspended, hoodless LED lights cause this to happen?

I'm guessing mine is so bad because it it so far above the water level.

Only when you sit in a chair that is lower than the light. It's a zinger in the eyes. I recently made an aluminum frame for my LED lights, and my wife is picking up some fabric today to made a screen. I'll probably make two short pieces for the sides, and a separate one for the front. Not sure how I'll make the frame yet, but I want it to be light weight and easily removable.

Right now it's blinding if I sit by the tank. I've been using a piece of rigid insulation lately (not in the pic).

Mine is probably going to be higher! We're going with the Orphek Atlantik and will have a little less spillage because we're having something custom done to them.... but now I'm concerned.

Maybe I'll have to go back to my original idea of buying billiard type shades.

MAN!!!! All my chairs are lower than the light and it sits in the entrance way of a big ole 60" LED tv. There's no way that's not going to reflect!! Dang, must replan.

You may be a little better off if you have narrow lenses, but you can see the angle of the light spill on the left wall. it's like looking into the sun. No lie.

    Some good solutions so far.

My open top canopy works for me.

It takes care of all the side spill light in the room, when you're sitting on the double reclining loveseat watching the show (DT), etc.
