the "flow monsters" post got me thinkin...is there a "recommended flow" type chart, im only turning over 32x per hour...no problems in my tank, but all these 100+ turn over rates got me feelin like im slacking in that department...

are either of you keeping SPS corals?

if the answer is no - then 20 x or 30 x will give you adequate circulation of water around your tank, help to avoid dead spots and send water with nutrients in towards and over the rockwork so that these nutrients can be processed

if you where keeping SPS, and especially any with very intricate branch work
then more flow and random flow would be required, in order to ensure that nothing can settle on these corals, and cause localised algae to grow or bacterial infections due to having debris/ detritus etc settling on these corals

    all depends on your stocking.

SPS will require at least 60-70X turnover.

LPS and softies will be happier at lower turnover rates

i do have a few SPS(birdsnest) but those are about as close as i can get them to the PH's, and ive placed everything where they should go(high flow areas, med flow, low flow, etc) as far as my LPS, softies, invert's etc. But like i said i dont have any problems in my tank(Knock on wood) plenty of growth, all my levels are steady... i was just curious...looks like its time for another PH or 2
