I can't wait to get a wrasse... previously I had a sixline in my last tank - any suggestions that would be good for a 34g nano?

Yeah, I would go with a flasher wrasse personally.
Mccosker's are one of my favorites, as well as the longfin fariy wrasse. Those longfins are usually pretty small and very nice looking and acting fish. Plus longfins are not a lot of $$, if that matters.

Otherwise, a yellow coris wrasse (actually a halichoeres but called a coris in the trade) would be a great flatworm eater, and pyramellid snail killer if you ever plan on having clams. Most other halichoeres wrasses get too big.

And these ARE reef safe, along with other halichoeres wrasses. Why FFS lists them in the FO wrasse section makes no sense. Actually, because they eat pests, a halichoeres wrasseis one of my top recommended reef fish.

Thanks all those are NICE. 8)

I read the descriptions and realized I have a problem....
I have a VERY open top tank.

2 of those mentioned jumping and sealed lids. Will I have this problem with all wrasses? Are they as bad as say Diamond Gobies in that regard?

Wrasses love jumping! I have three (red velvet, and two flames) and I would have lost of all them to jumping by now if I didn't have a lid. During feeding they get very excited and like to try and fly out of the tank. Plus, if there is any harassing going on, my flame wrasse makes a bee line for the top of the tank.

i think the jumping is hit or miss... my mccoskers has not jumped once and he is just happy as can be in the 50. I have eggcrate just incase but he has not attempted to go surfing

my vote would be for the Sixline (love mine), but if you've had one before the Mccosker's would have been my next pick.

my 6line hasn't jumped and i run an open top, but i suppose it's always a risk.

I prefer the six-line and leopard wrasses. And yes, potential jumpers. Thing is, those 2 mentioned aren't slouches about standing their ground, rather than, turn and run. My flasher wrasse was a wuss and jumped out twice, once in front of me. If you want to go a little different, you could try a pygmy wrasse. Although, something about this fish rubs me the wrong way. I think you should stock your tank/fuge with pods and keep a pipefish;D
