First of all I must thank everyone here at 3reef because I have been reading the forum for quite some time now and everything has helped in my understanding of the saltwater experience.

I recently added a Blue Hippo Tang to my 120 G tank (about 2-2.5 months ago). Once I added her/him the stress of transport to the LFS, then from the LFS to my house, then acclimation and finally introduction to the tank was incredible on her/him. A few days after introduction the fish was covered in white spots, was lethargic, and not very interested in anything at all.

I quickly read everything I could on 3reef about ick and started to dose Kent Garlic Extreme with all of the food that I fed as well as putting some directly into the tank itself. Now I must say that the tang is extremely active, swimming laps the entire length of the tank, voraciously eating anything that goes into the tank, and has had no white spots for at least 3 weeks now.

I just want to thank again everyone here that has posted threads about ick and how to prevent it, for it has saved my blue hippo tang.

    Congrats!
As long as the fish is eating, a good diet, good water, and time is the best cure for ich IME ;)
Glad to hear your new buddy is doing well.

Thanks guys. It is nice to have him/her fully recovered and eating well. Now i just have to do a water change today and scrape away all the algae on the viewing sides of the tank! What a drag!
