If you have read the news "RAIN WATER IS NOT FREE" in Oregon. A guy went to jail for 30 days for collecting rain water (

That's not rain water. It comes out of the ground, not the sky! ;D You can collect rain water ONLY if it falls on your roof or "improved" surface like a parking lot. But if it runs onto the "ground" it becomes public property and you can't collect it! Another stupid law!

Its actually not that dumb of a law if you think about it. The point isn't to charge you money, its to allow water to soak into the ground. PA has a similar law. A certain percentage of your property has to be permeable to water. So if your house covers up too much of your property, you can't build a pool. People get around this by replacing the asphalt in their driveway with pavers, which allow water to soak through. Come on guys, think of the envirorment! lol

Now this is flawed lol. You can only collect it if it falls on your roof or improved surface. Well water does not land on either of these places, it lands on the ground lol. Then it goes to your well.

Now this is a stupid law.

If you are truly interested in reusing the water this might be an interesting way to remove impurities.

The real question is..... Does it work as advertised?

If you've ever been to Oregon you know this is a "WET" state! On my place in southern Oregon (dry area) I got 42 inches + of rain for the last 5 to 6 years since I've been here. All that water runs off this mountain down to the Rogue River :fish: where by the way all the dams and flood control basins have been removed for "invironmental" reasons!! ::) So if I throw out 100 gallons of tank water I have no concern about harming the environment :thinking2

Couldn't you just put it in a barrel with a powerhead and heater with a piece of live rock for a week or so and reuse in fish only?
