haha have you seen that Italian salt I think its called fleur de sel made from evaporation sea water that rolls up with the tides? plus waves are natures skimmers after all.
1/2 lb is like 20 dollars. I think the price varies based on the location it comes from, $20 being the common variety.

How many millions of gallons of water changes have taken place in the history of this hobby. sometimes I think I have a good idea.... but then finally I can admit it was not. That is where you are heading.;D

WC has nothing to do with settling out dtitritus. Thats what mechanical filters are for...very easily accomplished. WC are about changing salt water.

You don't have to change water at all.... plenty of folks don't do water changes. If your nutrients are low, if your parameters are in check, if your dosing trace elements and major elements.... just exactly how much water do you need to change?

Plenty have jumped on that band wagon. But reusing waste water is not a matter of filtering out waste... it is a matter of replenishing the tank with NSW levels of everything... it's what you add, not always what you remove. Some folks think you don't need to do either.

lol. I already "admitted" that this was not-such a god idea. I'm so/so about it now. Seems that some people know what I am talking about. While others, such as yourself, stick with their original thoughts, which is fine.

WC are about both maintaining salt levels & getting rid of wastes.
