Red bubbles growing from dead coral?

    What are these? They have been growing slowly for a week or so..
    They look like just round little bubbles..

    Red Bubble algae.

    I'd toss that skeleton now.

    yes, it does look like bubble algae only red. I learned something new today - seems to happen a lot in this hobby :) Didn't know bubble algae could be red.

    As Evolved said get rid of that skeleton.The red ones are much more difficult to eradicate.

    Couldn't they just clean it? Like soak it in vinegar or something before putting it back in the tank?

    Do not try to pick it off,it's very tough stuff and if you break the bubbles it will release tons of spores causing it to spread even more quickly.It can take over a tank fast,I had this happen with a nano tank that I had neglected.I accidently transferred some of it to my current tank on a piece of coral after dlmantleing the nano and was able to fight it with decreased nutrients and the addition of emerald crabs which will eat it in small amounts.
