I checked the magnisium and it is 900. So I have to pick up stuff to raise it. What should the mag. be? I read about 1200

you have any epsom salts at home? that raises mag. but dont use it as only mag supplement. theres two different kinds, make sure you use both.

    Tested Magnisium

I tested my magnisium, it was 900. So off to the FS for something to raise it. They also did a water test and everything else was fine. I did do a water change, tried to suck up as much red stuff as I could, as well as adding the Red Slime chem. Seems to be less but will keep an eye. The FS did tell me to raise my salinety a little more. That I will do slowly thru the week.

The vodka treatment has helped eliminate mine. I have good lighting and 40x + turn over and was still getting it. Dosed some vodka and the next day it was mostly cleared up. I only feed minmally every other day as well.

Before adding any meds or potions into the tank I would concentrate strictly on water flow in that area and testing your RO/DI water for unwanted nasties. Check for phosphates in your water. Lastly I would also cut down on feeding.

What you must do is find the source of the problem and cure it. Band-aid solutions, in my opinion, will be the demise of your tank.

    Just my two bits worth.

    Good luck!
