Red hair algea CUC?

    Hey i got red hair algea. mostly on the sand i scoop it out and 3 days later its back in full force....So all suggestions welcome.

    Get a CUC? and what to get?

    do you want some cheto it worked for me i had a bad outbreak of blue green cyano (i think it's the worse algae because nothing eats it)

    hair algae usually doesnt come back that quickly. Id be interested to see a picture of this red hair algae you speak of.

    that red turf algae, (usually a ceramiuim species, but there is a lot of different ones...pics?) grows extremely fast... See if your temperature is high, what is it? High temps seem to encourage its growth.

    If its Cynao, also reffered to as red hair algea, you could toss in some peppermint shrimp they do a pretty good job at this.

    1) i've never heard of cyano being referred to as red hair algae.

    2) peppermint shrimp do not eat cyanobacteria, so please do not go out and buy one with the expectations that they will eat it.

    my temp was at 84 degrees F and ive dropped it to 78 degrees over a couple weeks. ,.... after doing some research looking at pictures.... its red slime algea..... CUC for red slime algea? fixes?

    Get lucky like me and happen to get a rabbit fish that eats cyano. Or if you have a fuge you could add some mangrove trees. They eat up all available nutrients that algea lives on.

    Have you tested your water for nitrates and phosfates?
