Anyone have any experience with these guys? My wife wants them in the 100g. I like the cleanup work of the emeralds but were wanting a different look

I have had one. They have a little more aggressive personality IMO. I had to move mine because it was picking at some corals. It does cleanup like the emeralds, but not as good.

I haven't noticed any difference between the two. The red mithrax is supposed to be more of a reef dweller than the green mithrax. I have kept both in the tank at the same time and there were no problems outside of space disputes.

I've never seen a difference between red and green mithrax. Sometimes they eat bubble algae/sometimes they don't. Sometimes they are 100% reef-safe/sometimes they aren't. Sometimes they are great as a clean-up crew member/sometimes they wait to be fed like a fish.

I have 2 green varieties, and from the list above, I have one of each. ;) One takes food from my acans and duncans. One just cleans, and is peaceful.

I had two red Mithrax crabs with the hopes they would eat some bubble algae. I found one eating a duncan coral and the other chewing on some zoas and a kenya tree in the back of the tank. Ended up taking them both out. Neither touched any bubble algae from what I saw.

    Here's some pics for reference.

We have 2 green and a one-armed red (LOL). They don't touch the corals, they just beg for food when I feed the tank. The red one is pretty good-sized.
