Unresolved Red, mushy (But firm), stone shaped stuff???

    If it is Botryocladia skottsbergi what do you suggest doing. If I lowered the water level so the overflow that it is on would be above water for 24 hours would it kill what ever this thing is?

    It's red bubble algae. Manual removal is probably the best method IME... Just don't pop the bubbles or you risk it spreading the algae.

    Ok then that is what I will do. Ill try not to pop it.

    I just took off about half of it. I couldnt pull the other half off without risking popping. What should I do now? Crab? Lower water level? Or take the risk of possibly popping one?

    if you do risk popping it and choose to do so, atleast run a siphon right next to it that could atleast catch some of the spores and do away with the siphoned water
