Red sand

    i have my tank cycleing right now and the sand little spots are turning red i dont know wut is hapening has this happened to any of you

    is it slimy or bubbly kinda more burgundy/red, if so sounds like cyano. A normal process in newer tanks but don't let it get out of control. Do a search on cyanobacteria and you'll find loads of pics and info.

    yea is more burgandy wut can i do to not let it spread to much

    1. Don't overfeed your tank. 2. Regularly check your nitrate levels. If ammonia and nitrite are zero, but nitrates are above 20ppm, do a water change. 3. If the cyano develops into a layer of slime, manually remove as much as you can with a turkey baster or siphon.
    Eventually, other types of algae will out-compete the cyanobacteria and take over.

    If your tank is cycling, I wouldn't do a water change as it will slow down the cycle. Otherwise, all of the other advice given so far is spot on :)
