I recently purchased the large bucket of coral pro salt, and have mixed it a few times now. The first time I will admit, was not mixed properly. My bad. After that, I researched and found several threads with your customer service indicating the proper technique for mixing. I've tried those techniques, and still end up with slightly hazy water that will not clear. I have read of other experienced reefers getting hazy batches of salt as well, even when mixed exactly per instructions.

My question is this. Will Red Sea either exchange or refund the salt? :-/

I've never had hazy mixes, but I have had less than consistent parameters from bucket to bucket. I have gone through 5 buckets of 175 gallon size, and am on my 6th, and most likely my last. I've had mixes range from 6.6dkh to 11.2dkh. Cal is always above 380, but still under advertised. Mag has always tested out well. I mix to 1.026 on a Milwaukee digital refractometer.

    @ 1.026

    Calcium 440
    Alk 12.5
    Didn't test mag

Parameters seem on, just a slight haze... To where looking through 24" of water is fuzzy. Not at all the crystal clear I've gotten from any other salt mix.

I've actually had a bucket of red sea before, with no problems.

It's up to you wether or not to use it. If you do I would just change a little out and keep an eye on everything.

Well, I can't use it... I cant see the other end of my tank! I'll contact the retailer as well, we'll see what happens.

Im curious as to whether I get a reply from red sea. From what I've read, they tell you you're mixing wrong... ::)

Are you mixing the entire bucket at once?

I mix at room temp...around 74F, in a large 30+ gallon BRUTE trash can. Koralia 1400.

No, I transfer the entire batch into a larger container, and stir it in dry form to fully mix the batch. I mix around 17 gallons at a time.
