Has anyone here ever used a Mag Test Kit made by Red Sea. I was just wondering if anyone had trouble getting to the end color. I was even asked by my LFS to let him know what my results were, but it seems like we are having the same problem. The end color is blue and we are getting purple.

Are you doing the test to a "T"? I remember having problems getting used to that kit. By the time I figured out how to use it, reagent A was empty:angry:. I have since switched.

+1, I could see that problem. A lot of people don't like API kits for the same thing, which I have no trouble with either.

I actually dont have no trouble with the Red Sea Ca or Mg test kits. I do have a Salifert test kit for Ca (which is obviously better) but I think the Red Sea is fine (Only Ca and Mg, I hate all their other test kits)

well the thing i find funny about API is that the test vials they provide you with has the line that you are supposed to fill to with the water to be tested...The directions indicate to use 5ml )which is what the line is supposed to be on the test tubes they provide) Now take a syringe from a salifert kit ...fill it with 5mls of water to be tested and put it in the API test vial. Notice that the the line isnt really 5ml. So if they cant even calibrate the line on their test tubes who is to say the test itself is any good? Just my opinion :)

you have to keep adding until it is blue. purple means your almost there.
sometimes it takes allot of drops.
