I have just purchased a new red sea max 130D and the fans on the lights are making a loud noise (I have another thread on this, to try and establish whether that is normal).

As the tank is in our living room they are annoying and can be heard over the telly.

I was wondering if the fans can be disconnected and if they can whether doing so would cause any problems.

Disconnecting the fans is possible, but it's a pain to open up the entire hood.

Beyond that, it would let your lights and ballast overheat, which is pretty bad.
