It's not pulling out enormous piles of gunk because I don't have much of a bio load yet. :-/ but I'll post pics of the skim mate when I get back. Now that it's a great sight to see, I'll focus on a chiller instead of inhabitants. :) I'm going to make the back into a fuge too. Where the ceramic rings go, I'll put the carbon. Then on top of that will be chaeto and a cord light.

I guess it's time for another update. :) unfortunately, while I was away last week, the Kole Tang contracted Ich. I went to the LFS on Monday seeking a reef safe ich treatment. And what they recommended was Kordon's Ich Attack. I don't have anything bad to say about this product. In just two days, the tang has gone from looking like death itself to being free of the white spots. I'm going to dose for a few more days to make sure, but I highly recommend it. It hasn't had an effect on my soft coral or starfish, so I'd say it's definitely reef safe. :) not sure how LPS or SPS would react though.

As stated above, I have also added some coral. Just softies from my biocube. Some mushrooms, a Kenya tree, and various Zooanthids. (top middle of scape)

And just yesterday, I picked up a Current Dual Stage 1/10 HP chiller from the guy who sold me the tank. Pics below.

I'm going to be running to home depot sometime this week to pick up tubing.

    Thanks for reading! :)

Awesome dude just set up a 1/4 chiller for out tank and trust me it is quite difficult. You have to use the 300 gph pump in the back right chamber and hook that up to tubing that goes down into your chiller and back....

Yeah. :-/ and I think the chiller inlet and the RSM accessory kit require different sizes of tubing. :( this is the first time I've ever some something external on a tank. I have a pump too. Just no spot to hook tubing into it.... Looks like I need to buy an accessory for it. How is the protein skimmer situation?

They should give you the equpiment to hook up a chiller? This set up is ment for a chiller :) there should be little pvc pipes that attatch to the back right side of the tank near the chamber. Then a tube runs down to the 300 gph pump in that chamber, i forget what size the tube is... Might be a quarter inch but im not sure. Then a tube rund from the back side of the pvc pipes on the right side and it goes down to the left side of the the stand (where she chiller should be). Then you run another tube back to attatch to the pvc pipes. So basically the pump will suck up water AND act as a powerhead. The water is sucks up will go down, get cooled, and then the powerhead will shoot out cold water :) hope that helped....

And ya that skimmer is a pain in the butt. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have an update... The Kole Tang and Clowns didn't make it through the ich infestation. The Kole was looking great, but the next day his eyes were glazed over, and the day after that he had moved on. Them the day after that, the clowns disappear. I've found one, but can't find the other.. I'll start over in a month or so. I also finally got the chiller hooked up. :) I used braided tubing. I also mentioned earlier in the thread that I had replaced the weaker pump with the MJ1200. Well, I had the weaker pump (1350 lph), so I decided to use that to power the chiller.

Not there is difficulty with the chillers internal thermometer. It reads the water at 85 degrees, so it keeps trying to chill it (it is set at 78 degrees). And is it chilling. The water is cold, definitely under 85.. But the chiller keeps chilling because it reads 85... And suggestions?

My skimmer isn't working wonders... It's better than my biocube skimmer though. (the only other one I've had experience with.) I am going to pick up some carbon and purigen next week to put in the filter chamber. as for improving the skimmer, just make sure you have the right valve setting on the air.. I get large chunks of stuff, and slime coated walls, but that's about it.

As for tank measurements, the chiller accessory is 5/8", and my chiller was inlet: 1/2" and outlet 5/8". I ended up using a reducer to merge 1/2" tubing with the 5/8" tubing. I wanted to the return directly to the tank return, but that requires smaller tubing. A lot smaller than even 1/2".

Well.. It's been 4 weeks since my last fish died... Then there was the copper. Which was at .5 ppm. Now it's so low that it's undetectable. I'm running culprisorb, poly filter, and carbon sponge. So, I went to my lfs today and picked up four green chromis which they recommended for testing because of their durability and inexpensiveness. I got them then and read up on them, that the largest will bully the smallest one to death. I've already spotted the oddball, wich happens to be the smallest. He tends to hang beind the others. Is bullying likely? And what is the probability of going from 4 chromis to 1 from this issue? Thanks!
