    I do have heat issues..
In the mornings it's cool 75-78 and then in the heat of the day it gets 80-84..
quite annoying. Suprised my fish can handle it.
The little extra fan works good for cooling things down.
Yeah i will play with my protien skimmer some more.
    Thank you.

if you are hitting 80 - 84 in the evenings I would bump my heater up a notch or two. The temp swing is much more dangerous and stressful than the temp itself. JMO

Pull the crappy skimmer out of the red sea tank and get a tunze doc 9002. The tunze is much better

If you remove the stock protien skimmer abd replace it with the tunze then you can remove the carbon and biological filter out of the chamber of death. The Biological filter just causes high nitrates anyways, so IMO you really don't need them anyway if you have plenty of live rock. Once you remove it you have room to build a filter media rack to house you favorite filter media

There are some mods I did that helped considerably.

    1. Drilled a hold in the right top side of the collection cup, just so it would hold an airline nipple - disconnected existing airline hose at the valve and put a new air valve (from LFS) on and connected hose to the nipple I installed in the cup.

    2. Drilled 3 3/16" holes in the top of the cup lid. If you look in the corners you'll see "circles", that's where I did them, except I didn't put one in the back right (where I placed the nipple).

I then adjusted the valve, it's probably 3/4 open (or 1/4 closed hehehe). I get about 3/4" of skimmate a week now. The best thing is I get no buildup in the neck of the skimmer below the cup. I hated cleaning that.

Also hear you can take a air hose (1/2" ID I think), and hook it to the pump intake at the very bottom. Then snake the hose up into the skimmer body, basically so it just sits a few inches into the top chamber after the "bend". Almost makes it a "recirc". I haven't seen the need to do this yet but I probably will try it since it's easily reversible.
