I use it but I don't use the tip they send with it. start with 1.0 of part c keep dripping until the color matches (blue) on the card. then read whats left in the syringe and get that numer,(you don't use the drops for anything) for example:
.46 then take 1.0 -number left in syringe(ex:.46) and times that by 2000 that is your mag.
hope I didn't confuse you more.

I use it. First, I don't use the little tiny tip thing for the syringe, that just gets in my way.

I assume you're talking about C? For C, you do not count the drops at all. I don't know what scale you're even referring to, actually. Maybe it's different from mine???

ANyway, the syringe is filled to 1.0. YOu add the stuff one drop at a time until it turns blue.

At that point you look at syringe. You had 1.0, but after adding enough drops now the syringe might read, say, .3. So that means you used .7. Double it and add some zero's. Using .7 of C means you have Mg reading of 1400. So on and so forth.

    Does that help?

Ah, Horton beat me to it!

well the .46 would be the number you have left in the syringe(your number will be different) because you start with 1.0 on the scale on the side of the syringe. you have to read the syringe scale when you are done dripping of how much is left in the syringe.
    so:

1.0 minus whats left in syringe times 2000.

the reason I don't use the scale on the paper is because I run my mag higher then there scale.
