Just connect it to the main hole and put your thumb over it. once all of the air is out take your thumb off and all should be good!

The unit must have an air-tight seal in order to prime properly (like any hang on filter). Once the unit has water flowing through it, you can remove your thumb (or switch the air tubing over) and it will begin skimming/producing bubbles.

These skimmers can be finicky to set in order to get a nice dry skimate. I would suggest turning it all the way down, and turning it up in slow increments every 30 seconds or so until the bubbles are working their way up the skimmer cup cone and pop right before the get to the top (inside the cup). This should produce a thick/dark skimate.

No problem. If you run into any snags you can always call us and we can troubleshoot with you over the phone. Thomas (our aquarium tech) is usually pretty good with stuff like this!

i have this skimmer and anytime i get air in the system i just pinch the little hose nice and tight until it primes, leaving it connected to its normal operating position.

ps. i dont know why this skimmer has gotten a bad rap, it has been great for me, after break-in pretty quite and pulls out a bunch of gunk

If you want, you can go to red sea's website and download and print up the instructions for reference.

I had one of these as a loaner and it worked pretty well for a small skimmer. It sure was better than a CPR bakpak2r and the old airstone driven skimmer I used to use before I jumped up to my ASD.
