I don't really know wht happened but bascially the skimmer was overskimming and putting alot of water inside the collection cup.... there is a little hole at the top where the air tube is....the water went inside the tube... i stopped the skimmer but i was just wondering if this is bad for the skimmer?

its not to bad, but you have to use the little dial thingy on the intake tube to set the flow correctly or it will over flow. i have mine set about 1/2 open on the intake and it works really good.

Mine fills too rapidly when I have it set that high- I keep the valve almost completely closed. Wish I had saved the receipt!

I have a prizm on my tank and it does the same thing if I have the valve opened to far. I keep mine on a low setting, it doesn't really do much as far as skimming I only keep it on there to help with the gas exchange and water movement. They would be great for a small tank if you didn't have to adjust them every day.
